Signature Millwork is pleased to announce that we have successfully completed the Architectural Woodwork Institute’s Quality Certification Program. This achievement underscores our unwavering dedication to excellence and solidifies our position as a premier provider of custom architectural woodwork in Dallas, Texas.
A Legacy of Quality and Standards
The Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI), founded in 1954 as an evolution of the Millwork Cost Bureau, has a long history of advancing quality and standards within the architectural woodwork industry. Recognizing the need for an independent third-party quality assurance system, AWI launched the Quality Certification Program (QCP) in 1995. Since then, the program has grown significantly, with hundreds of QCP-licensed woodworking firms and thousands of projects certified annually.
The QCP is inextricably linked to the AWI Standards of Architectural Woodwork, which are developed and continuously updated by AWI following the rigorous requirements of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). These standards go far beyond simple rules; they provide in-depth guidance on every aspect of architectural woodwork, including how materials are chosen, how things are built, how they’re finished, and how they’re installed. They establish three aesthetic grades – Economy, Custom, and Premium – and various performance duty levels for products like casework, ensuring clarity and consistency across projects.
Signature Millworks: A Commitment to Accountability, Now Certified
The QCP operates on a dual-pronged approach, licensing woodworking firms and certifying individual projects. To become QCP-licensed, a woodworking firm undergoes a stringent certification journey. This typically involves comprehensive testing of knowledge, a thorough facility inspection, verification of references, and a demonstrated ability to consistently produce work in accordance with AWI’s quality grade criteria.
Signature Millworks, established in Dallas in 1991, has a long-standing reputation for providing high-quality custom architectural millwork for both commercial and high-end residential projects. Our recent QCP certification is a testament to our established expertise and dedication to meeting the industry’s most demanding benchmarks.
